After the stroke and finally back to my home I was hit by the seriousness of my limitations. While in Hospital we are in a controled space, created to protect us and recover our mobility, we live in a bubble, everyting is safe, there is always someone near to help. Outside in the real world it’s the opposite of this, The sidewalk is irregular, the people are impatient, the environment is harsh, we feel so fatigued at the end of the day that we only want to get in bed and sleep. But I keep on thinking in this words I heard repetedly from my Therapihist; Use it or loose it. To prevent further losses I came up with a three-step plan

Use it or lose it

  • Return to my work

It's a privilege to work with something we love, and I was indeed lucky to work not only in my dream job but for an amazing institution.

  • return to water

Making friends is one of my few good qualities. So it was not a surprise when a very good friend from my first summer job at the local swimming pool suggested to me to visit that same swimming pool for some hydrotherapy sessions

  • return to the sea

Last but not least the ultimate goal was to be able to return to sail my boat Learn and rebuild my self confidence to sail her around the world, this time beyond the end of the world
